Croatian national team player Ivan Perišić has officially extended his cooperation with the Dutch champion PSV Eindhoven, signing a new two-year contract that binds him to the club until the summer of 2027. This decision follows a highly successful season in which Perišić was one of the key players in securing the Eredivisie title.

Contract details and reasons for staying
The new contract is valid until the summer of 2027, which means that if Perišić stays until the end of the agreement, he will be 38 years old.
During the summer, Perišić was targeted by several European giants, including Barcelona and Bayer Leverkusen, but decided to stay in Eindhoven, turning down generous offers from Saudi Arabia.
“This is a wonderful day for me, my family, and all dear people. Last season was great, with a lot of goals and assists, and winning the league title was an absolute highlight. Our fans were also fantastic, and I want to thank them for that,” said Perišić after signing the contract.
Last season’s performance
In the 2024/25 season. Perišić played 35 games, scored 16 goals and registered 11 assists, making him one of PSV’s most effective players.
He especially stood out in the final of the championship, when PSV achieved all the victories in the last four rounds, and Perišić scored five goals and registered one assist. A hat-trick against Fortuna Sittard made him the oldest player in the club’s history to score three goals in one league game.
Perišić was the man of the game, and twice in May, he was named Player of the Match.
The context of the transfer and the decision to stay
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick was the leading proponent of bringing in Perišić, with whom he worked at Bayern. However, Barcelona did not send an official offer, and Perišić, out of respect for PSV, decided by the end of June.
In addition to Barcelona and Bayer Leverkusen, clubs from Saudi Arabia also showed interest, but Perišić remained loyal to PSV.
The club announced the extension of the contract on social networks with a video and the message: “Not just a player. A masterpiece.”, thus once again highlighting how much they value the Croatian representative.
Financial aspect
According to unofficial data, Perišić earns around EUR 980,000 gross per year at PSV, which ranks him among the club’s more experienced and respected players.
Historical significance and reactions
The decision to stay was met with enthusiasm among PSV fans, who consider Perišić one of the leaders and key figures in the dressing room.
Perišić arrived at PSV at the end of the summer of 2024 as a free agent after leaving Hajduk, and already in his first season, he became one of the most important players and a fan favorite.
