The Croatian U19 national team continues its series of victories – in Vrnjačka Banja, it defeated Mexico in the battle for ninth place, convincingly with 3:0 (25:19, 25:16, 25:20). We also beat Mexico in the Osijek group in the second round, then with a score of 3:1.

This time our girls were dominant again, which is confirmed by the statistics: we were better in points in the attack (36-29), especially in the block (12-4), on the serve (4-3), and we had fewer errors (19-23).

Although the Mexicans took a 1:0 lead in the first set, that was their only positive moment – the rest of the set belonged entirely to Croatia. We achieved the biggest advantage with the result 19:11, even +8. In the second set, Mexico never had a lead, and it is worth noting Croatia’s long streak, from 4:2 to 10:2.

In the third set, the rivals took the lead again and led for the last time with a score of 12:10, but Croatia then went on a 6:0 run, took the lead, and surely kept it until the end.

Of course, we are happy after this victory. What we should praise today are the girls. They spent the segment of the game that relates to our transition on the field with maximum concentration and at the highest level. We are slowly bringing the competition to an end – we have one more game left, and we want to play it the right way. I think we are all focused and concentrated on exactly that. Now we just have to rest and recover physically for that last game. I would like to congratulate the whole team – what they are doing is at the highest level, I’m proud of them and I would like tomorrow’s match to be in the same tone, so that we can conclude the competition as we planned – said the selector Svetlana Ceca Ilić
