On the last day of the transition period, the RK Zagreb management strengthened the playing staff with two new names: the round forward Petar Topić and the left winger Damian Przytula. This duo comes to us from the ranks of Hungarian Tatabanya. They signed contracts with the best Croatian club until the summer of 2027.
In front of the club, our sports director Damir Bičanić commented on the transfers.
Forced by injuries to some key players, we were quite active in the last days of the transfer window. We brought in two players who have played for Tatabanya handball club in Hungary. It is about Petar Topić and Damian Przytula. Damian is a Polish national team player who plays as a left winger. I would say that he is, first of all, a great shooter, and the fact that he is a two-way player is also of great value. We expect that by the end of this season, but also in the next two as long as he has a contract, he will be a very important player for us both in defense and attack. We also followed him at the recently concluded World Cup in Croatia, where he scored many goals from positions outside the nine meters in several games. We expect that he will demonstrate these qualities already this season in domestic competitions, and certainly in the Champions League starting in autumn. The second reinforcement is Petar Topić, who has a lot of experience and has been playing in the Hungarian league for years at an enviable level. He is also a player in both directions and we expect him to be our reinforcement in every sense. We are happy that we could complete these transfers on the last day of the transition period and that the boys will immediately join us and give their best this season, but also in the seasons ahead – Damir Bičanić, RK Zagreb sports director
Damian Przytula has been a Polish national handball team member since 2018. After nine years of playing in the Polish league, he had his first international engagement in Hungarian Tatabanya.
I am sincerely looking forward to coming to Zagreb and can’t wait to get the chance to play for the best Croatian club. Anyone who plays this sport knows Zagreb is a big club with a rich history and handball tradition. It is a great pleasure to be part of this club. I am especially looking forward to playing in the Champions League, because I think that is the dream of every handball player. I worked hard to get to this moment. It is a great honor for me to have received an invitation from Zagreb and to have the opportunity to try myself at the highest possible level in the Champions League. I know that Zagreb is the best Croatian club and I believe it will remain so – Damian Przytula, RK Zagreb new left winger
Petar Topić is a 33-year-old all-rounder who started his career in the handball club Kaštela. In Croatia, he also played for the handball club Poreč. His first international engagement was in the handball club Metalurg from Skopje, and in Macedonia, he also played for Pelister from Bitola. Since 2016, he has been playing in the Hungarian first league, changing three first league clubs.
I am joyful to come to a club like Zagreb. We all know what Zagreb means and represents on the handball map of Europe, and the possibility of playing in the Champions League in the next two seasons was just one more motive for me to come to the best Croatian club. As far as the team is concerned, I can say that I followed them and that it is a great team, with a lot of individual quality. I hope I will fit in as soon as possible and the boys will accept me in the best possible way. I want to help my teammates and the club achieve all the goals ahead of us. I do not know coach Petković personally, but of course I know who he is and what he represents in the handball world. A prosperous handball career, and I am sincerely happy that I will have the opportunity to learn from such an expert. I hope to justify his trust and the trust of the people who brought me to Zagreb – Petar Topić, new forward player
Damian Przytula and Petar Topić signed contracts until the summer of 2027, let’s repeat it.
