MARTIN ERLIĆ SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH DANISH MIDTJYLAND

Martin Erlić has signed a five-year contract with the Danish club Midtjylland, committing to the club until the summer of 2030. The transfer from Italian club Bologna was reportedly worth € 5 million, with an additional potential € 1 million in bonuses. Midtjylland, which finished second in the Danish league last season and competes in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers, sees Erlić as a key addition to strengthen their defense.

Erlić, 27, previously played in Italy for Sassuolo, Spezia, and Bologna, accumulating 125 Serie A appearances. Despite injuries limiting his last season to 11 games, he won the Italian Cup with Bologna and has 10 caps for the Croatian national team. His move to Midtjylland marks his first senior transfer outside Italy.

Erlić stated that from the first talks with Midtjylland, he felt wanted, was impressed by their project, and shares the club’s ambitions to compete for titles and advance in European competitions. He also emphasized his motivation to continue developing and securing his place in the Croatian national team.

Midtjylland’s sporting director praised Erlić for his international experience, tactical discipline, and leadership qualities. Erlić will wear the number 6 jersey and join his new teammates immediately. The club will play in Europa League qualifiers, and Erlić aims to help them succeed in those competitions.

The transfer attracted interest from other clubs, including Croatian ones like Hajduk and Dinamo, but their financial offers could not match Bologna’s demands. Midtjylland became the most concrete suitor, and the deal may become the most expensive in the Danish club’s history if all bonuses are met.
