DINAMO ZAGREB: TRANSITION, CHALLENGES AND STRUGGLE FOR STABILITY BEFORE THE NEW SEASON

Dinamo Zagreb is currently facing several key challenges in assembling and stabilizing the team for the new season, according to the latest news:

  1. Major reconstruction and departure of the holder

Several important players left the club this summer, including Arijan Ademi, Bruno Petković, Stefan Ristovski and Marko Pjaca, which led to the need for an almost complete redesign of the team.

In addition, as many as 13 players have already left, and the number could be higher than 20 by the end of the transfer window.

  1. Problems with defense

Dinamo’s defense conceded 41 goals in SHNL last season, which is a negative record in the club’s modern history. The preparations show that the problems in the defense are still deep-rooted, despite the nominally large number of stoppers in the squad.

The club is looking for additional reinforcements for the stopper, but the question of the key striker is still not resolved.

  1. Excess players and expensive write-offs

Dinamo has a problem with players that they no longer count on, but they are still under contract and burdening the club budget. In particular, Samy Mmaee and Dino Perić stand out, who together cost almost 1.5 million euros per year, but are not in the coach’s plans.

There are about ten players on the departure list, and the club is looking for a way to sell them, loan them or terminate their contracts.

  1. Congestion in midfield

There are currently as many as 11 players in the middle of the field, which creates a lot of competition and the need for additional departures or loans. Some have returned from loan, and a solution will have to be found for the surplus before the start of the season.

  1. The need for coordination

Given the number of changes, the team will need time to settle in and reach the level of play needed to fight for the title and European ambitions. New coach Mario Kovačević has the challenging task of assembling a functional and coordinated squad.

  1. Lack of strikers

Dinamo has still not resolved the issue of strikers, which is recognized as the most important priority in this transition period. The club is trying to bring in reinforcements, but negotiations with Augsburg regarding Belja have stalled, so other options are being considered.

Dinamo is in the process of a major transition, with an emphasis on solving defensive problems, reducing surplus players, bringing in strikers and fielding a completely new team. The club is still the favorite for the title, but will need time to stabilize and solve all the challenges before the start of the new season.
