Croatia’s senior women’s handball team notched their second straight President’s Cup win at the 2025 World Championship, defeating Uruguay 34:25 on December 5.
After an early Uruguay lead, Croatia surged with a 5-0 run for a 12:7 halftime edge, fueled by Dejana Milosavljević’s 6 goals and Tena Petika’s perfect shooting. A second-half 11-goal surge from 34-51 minutes sealed it, despite Uruguay’s resilience.
Katarina Pavlović scored 6, Tina Barišić 5, Lara Burić and Milosavljević 4 each; Lucija Bešen made key saves. This victory, following 38:9 over Iran, positioned Croatia atop Group 1.
Croatia advanced to the final versus China or Cuba on December 10 at 18:30, vying for 25th place overall.
