CROATIA WOMEN’S HANDBALL CRUSHES IRAN 38:9 FOR FIRST WORLDS WIN

Croatia’s senior women’s handball team secured their first victory at the 2025 World Championship, dominating Iran 38:9 in the President’s Cup Group 1 opener on December 3.

Croatia led 11:0 by the 16th minute and 21:3 at halftime, with Lucija Bešen excelling in goal; Iran scored their first only after 16 minutes. The second half mirrored the rout, peaking at 38:8 before a late consolation goal.

Katja Vuković led with 9 goals, Ana Malec added 5, Tina Barišić 4; Lara Burić, Lana Jurina, Sara Šenvald, and Tena Petika each scored 3. Mozhgan Ghahremani netted 4 for Iran.

Croatia faces Uruguay on Saturday at 11:00 and Paraguay on Monday; topping the group earns a 25th-place playoff. All President’s Cup games air on RTL 2 or Voyo.
