Apart from Croatia, which had the misfortune of being in the group with the weakest basketball host of EuroBasket 2025, Cyprus, the qualifications for the European Championship did not have a happy ending for Bulgaria, Denmark, Hungary, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Slovakia and Ukraine, and all these national teams will find themselves in the pre-qualifications for the World Championship.
It is the second round of pre-qualifications, and in addition to the eight countries mentioned, Austria, Romania, Switzerland, and Norway, which passed the first round of pre-qualifications, will also try to win the qualification.
The power groups before the draw look like this:
Group 1: Croatia, Ukraine, Hungary, Bulgaria
Group 2: The Netherlands, North Macedonia, Denmark, Slovakia
Group 3: Switzerland, Romania, Austria, Norway.
The draw will occur at the FIBA headquarters, the House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland on Friday, March 14 at 2 p.m. The national teams will be drawn into four groups of three, with the best two from each group advancing to the European qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup.
Both rounds of pre-qualifications are played in August this year.
