Croatian internationals once again played key roles for their clubs: Nikola Vlašić scored for the fourth straight Serie A match. At the same time, Joško Gvardiol provided the decisive assist as Manchester City earned a critical Premier League victory.
In Serie A Round 17, Torino were beaten 2–1 at home by Cagliari, with Vlašić scoring Torino’s only goal in the 28th minute. His recent form has been outstanding: according to the Croatian FA (HNS), he has now scored in four consecutive league matches (Sassuolo, Cremonese, Milan, Cagliari), and across his last seven appearances (club + national team) he has recorded seven goals and two assists.
In England, Manchester City won 2–1 away at Nottingham Forest, with the key moment coming in the 83rd minute: Gvardiol nodded the ball down into a dangerous area, and Rayan Cherki finished to seal the win. Cherki had earlier assisted City’s first goal as well, while Gvardiol played the whole match and delivered the assist that ultimately decided the game.
