CROATIA U21 BEATS HUNGARY TO CLOSE GAP ON TURKEY

Ivica Olić’s selection secured a vital 0:2 victory over Hungary in the 4th round of qualifiers for the Euro U21 2027 in Albania and Serbia, marking their third straight win in Group H.

Leon Grgić scored his second consecutive goal in the 17th minute – receiving the ball on the edge of the penalty area and precisely beating Pécsi for 0:1 at MTK Stadium in Budapest (referee Joey Kooij). Luka Tunjić sealed the win in the 90th minute after Luka Vušković’s low free-kick – he ran onto it and made it 0:2 despite Hungarian pressure in the end.

Hungary: Pécsi, Farkas, Yaakobishvili, Fenyő, Markgráf, Tuboly, Szűcs (yellow 69′), Molnár (Kovács 79′), Horváth (Átrok 46′), Bánáti (Jurek 46′), Dénes. Croatia: Silić, Prpić, Hrgović, Vušković, Barišić (yellow 69′), Jagušić, Zvonarek (Tunjić 76′), Katić (Pavić 84′), Šotiček (yellow 38′, Topić 76′), Grgić (yellow 90+3′), Krivak (Hodak 64′).

Croatia jumps to 10 points (one behind Turkey with fewer games): 1. Turkey 11, 2. Croatia 10, 3. Ukraine 4, 4. Hungary 3, 5. Lithuania 1. Next test: home clash vs Turkey on March 31, 2026, for group lead.

Olić’s generation dominates – Grgić in form, Vušković creator, Tunjić endgame hero.
