MATIJA FRIGAN SIGNED FOR PARMA

Matija Frigan has officially signed with the Italian Serie A club Parma, agreeing to a five-year contract that will run until the summer of 2030 or 2031, depending on the source. The transfer was completed from Belgian club Westerlo for approximately € 10 million, making it Parma’s most expensive signing of the transfer window.

Frigan (22), a Croatian forward, began his career at Rijeka, had loan spells at Orijent 1919 and Hrvatski Dragovoljac, and then moved to Westerlo in 2023 for 5.5 million euros. In Belgium, he played 75 matches and scored a total of 20 goals. Parma paid around 10 million euros for him, which means Rijeka earned approximately 450,000 euros from the transfer due to a contractual clause entitling them to a percentage of the next transfer.

Parma finished the last Serie A season in 16th place and will start the new season with an away game against Juventus, where Frigan could make his Serie A debut. The club sold their striker, Ange-Yoan Bonny, to Inter for about 23 million euros in this transfer window, and part of that fee was reinvested in bringing Frigan.

Matija Frigan adds to Parma’s attack with his ability to play both as a classic striker and as a winger, and he demonstrated good efficiency in the Belgian league, which is expected to translate to Serie A.
