Dion Drena Beljo has officially become a new player of Zagreb’s Dinamo, signing a multi-year contract with the club. Dinamo paid Augsburg a fixed fee of four million euros for the 23-year-old forward, and the transfer value with bonuses can rise to 7.5 million euros, making this the most expensive incoming transfer in the history of the club and the Croatian league.
After a season on loan at Vienna’s Rapid (where he scored 18 goals and recorded four assists), Beljo returns to his hometown of Zagreb and takes the jersey number 9. He signed a five-year contract with Dinamo. In the official statement, the club highlighted his physical attributes (195 cm tall, strong and agile in the air) as well as technical qualities that recommended him as the main attacking option for their pursuit of the top spot in the HNL.
Beljo expressed satisfaction that the transfer was finally realized and acknowledged the great responsibility of the number “nine” position at Dinamo. He stated that he will “give his all to meet expectations” and looks forward to performing in front of Dinamo’s fans.
With this transfer, Dinamo’s months-long search for a striker ended, during which Beljo was marked as the club’s priority target.
